June 28th, 2012 Over 200 residents came out to the A Community Voice Hire NOLA jobs forum at First Grace United Methodist Church on Canal Street against the issue of jobs for residents. Billions of recovery dollars have flooded New Orleans. Yet, local minority contractors and local residents are denied the opportunity to apply for contracts and gain jobs in the recovery effort. There are no training programs or enforcement on companies to hire local residents. Time and time again these good-paying jobs have gone workers outside the State.
